San Diego Police Officer Brought A Priest To Give Me Last Rights For Taking Pictures
Photographing police stations and the First Amendment
On this day, I decided to visit the San Diego Police Department-Eastern Division. I was only there for about 15 minutes before contacted for public photography.
Police stations, as symbols of authority , can make for compelling photographic subjects. But did you know that our right to photograph public buildings, including police stations, is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution?
If approached by law enforcement while taking photos, remain calm and respectful. You have the right to photograph from public areas.
So, fellow photographers, let's continue to exercise our rights, tell our stories, and capture the world around us. Together, through the lens of our cameras and the protections of the First Amendment, we can preserve our freedoms and share our perspectives with the world. Keep shooting, and until next time, stay inspired!
NOTE: We don't condone threats or violence of any kind. If you are upset or outraged by acts of government misconduct featured in this video, we encourage you to utilize lawful means of expression, including becoming involved in the political process, as well as seeking accountability through the judicial system.
