Minnesota News Now-Car jacking, 15-year-old suspect in custody. Brooklyn Park, MN
Car Jacking
On 8/16/2023, Brooklyn Park officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of 69th Ave N regarding an armed carjacking. Dispatch advised that the reporting party, an adult female, was approached by two males with a gun while she was getting into her vehicle. Dispatch gave updated info on the vehicle taken during the robbery while officers were responding. A short time later, Brooklyn Center officers located the vehicle being driven by the suspects in the area of Brooklyn Blvd and Highway 100. Brooklyn Center officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle immediately fled and crashed. Several suspects fled from the vehicle. One juvenile male suspect was immediately apprehended by a Brooklyn Center officer while two more suspects fled on foot. Several agencies, including Brooklyn Center PD, Brooklyn Park PD, Plymouth PD, MN State Patrol, and Hennepin County Sheriffs Office assisted in the perimeter and K9 track to locate a second suspect. A MN State Patrol helicopter provided aerial coverage of officers during the attempt to locate of the suspects. This incident remains under investigation.
